Take Our Badge

I am here to make a fresh start. Things got a little more than crazy there for a while....as this blogs grows, I will be sharing more of those details. The catalyst for this new beginning is the Crazy Quilt Journal Project 2012. I have for years admired the modern examples of this Victorian art form. I made my first attempt the summer of 2008...hence the original idea for this blog. So here I go again.

Ten days in an apartment in Thousand Oaks, California.....Armed with J Marsha Mischler's motif book and a Judith Baker Montano's Elegant Stitches, I went at it. Most things I do I call 'experiments', so no great expectation of perfectionism is tied to it; and that allows me lots of leeway for learning.        Obviously I didn't know too much about piecing, but I enjoyed the embroidery and seam treatments. I was hooked.

For the next few days here, I am going to practice my blogging skills. I will share my early beginnings into the quilt world. Feel free to let me know what I could change or do better... I'm still experimenting!

  1. I love your first CQ quilt...how adventurous you were to begin with a full quilt! I look forward to seeing what you create on your CQJP journey too!

  2. I started my first crazy quilting with the same authors books in the late 90's. They are still my resources as well as Helen Gibb, and a number of others. As the old saying goes "can't leave home without it", I can't crazy quilt without them!!LOL I think we will all have fun this next year! Happy New Year!!
